Netherlands and into Germany

Rembrandt's The Night Watch, is a group portrait of Amsterdam's civic guard, painted in 1642 (top). Frans Hals started the bottom oil on canvas in 1637, also of the civic guard, but due to conflicts with the guardsmen, Pieter Codde stepped in to finish the last 7 figures on the right!
